He Is Music! He Does Write the Songs!

Breaking news: This week's guest judge is Barry Manilow! Color me delirious!!!!

Last year, I was Caller 13 and won free tickets to see him, so Brunie and I enjoyed a glorious evening of moaning, clutching each other, and sighing. (She is a fan, though not so rabid as I, but even she was overcome by his showmanship.) A cute moment: Barry played the opening notes to "Weekend in New England," and we, the New England audience, erupted in hysteria. Barry waited a few beats and then said, dryly, 'No kidding."

Oh! How I love him!!

Lady Chardonnay, over the moon and OUT.

I must second Lacy C's enthusiasm about the Barry Manilow concert. I was "being nice" to go and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. He really loves entertaining - and it seems like he does it effortlessly.

Since Barry will be performing Wednesday night and Stevie performed last Wednesday, one can only wonder who will be the next Idol guest performer. And, if you hear shreiking all the way up to New England from me in the Deep South, it will be because Taylor is singing Elvis. Tonight's your chance, Taylor. Bring it on!

Lest I be too closely associated with the musical tastes of Lady C. & Brunie -let it be known that I, of course, refused an offer to go to Mr. Manilow's concert.

The cynical do not groove to ancient crooners who go overboard with the plastic surgery.

I can tolerate the kids singing some Manilow - barely - but then I have to stomach an appearance by Barry also?

The sacrifices I make for Idol are boundless.

Mrs. C., you will not have to tolerate the kids singing Manilow hits - Barry has a new cd of 50s music, so the kids will be singing music of the 50s. Feel better now?

Cindy, who saw Barry in concert a few years ago and PAID for the chance to do so - ha!

Cindy, your admission has only added to the esteem in which I've held you, lo these many years! ;)

Lady C

p.s. I haven't thanked you for the books yet, have I? My daughter loved your gift—"Mom, it looks like a diary!" she exclaimed, as I plucked it from her underage fingers. Thank you!!

Thank you, Cindy. Now I can relax and put away the Pepto-Bismol. :-)

Fanilows...ALL OF YOU, Fanilows.

All right - all guesses BEFORE the show starts tonight....who is going home?

I'm going with....Kevin. I don't need to her him sing (and blink 784 times per second) to know he'll be BAD.

OK, forget that. Bucky and Lisa are in the bottom two, Lisa goes home. The problem is, I can't figure out who might be the person in the bottom THREE. Based SOLELY on last night's performance, maybe Taylor, but I don't think so. My calls ALONE should keep him from that!

P.S. Mandisa is wonderful!
