If You're Going to Bump It - Bump it With a Trumpet...

Remember Gypsy - the musical about the burlesque act with the overbearing mother played by Ethel Merman, Roz Russell or Bette Midler - depending on how old or obsessed you are? It has a song called "You've Got to Have a Gimmick" and it is certainly the case on Idol.

Our easily definable top ten are:

Beatbox Blake
Babymama Lakeshia
Background-no-more Melinda
Funny Chris
Timberlakey Chris
Bald-dad Phil
Baby Jordyn
Rockin' Gina
Formerly-hated-hot Haley
Making-the-little-girls-cry-with-love-and-everyone-else-cry-for-entirely-different-reasons Sanjaya

And going home - Stephanie. Hopefully she learned her lesson - being classy is not enough.

And in conclusion, last night Lady Char mocked me for my "constant flogging of TiVo" to which I reply, "Bite me!" And also - I managed to watch last night's entire episode - up to the last commercial break - during the very commercial break during which I turned on the the television! I will not be a slave to padding, Peter Noone's scarily insincere singing and the Ford pimp-o-mercial (trademark TWoP) - I fast forward like the wind to the good parts. And then I go back and watch Lulu whenever I want. Thank you TiVo.

Brunie (looking at America's voting record and getting grossed-) OUT!
